SPOTLIGHT: Transitional Housing for Deaf and Deaf-Blind Victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

Retained by the Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services (ADWAS) to assist with campaign advancement planning and campaign counsel for $8.6 million drive to build the nation’s first transitional housing and support for Deaf and Deaf-Blind victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Campaign was completed on time and successfully unlocked challenge grants from the Kresge Foundation and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Doors opened in summer 2006.

SPOTLIGHT: Erickson Theatre Off Broadway

Served as campaign counsel for Seattle Central Community College Foundation’s “Access to Achievement Campaign.” The $2.8 million combined campaign for Theatre renovations, scholarships, tutoring and childcare conculded on schedule and exceeded goal by over seven percent.
Ms. Bateman has also served as Interim Foundation Director for the Seattle Central Community College Foundation and helped with campaign advancement planning for the College’s new Science and Math facility.

SPOTLIGHT: Campus Relocation of Cornish College of the Art

Retained to conduct fundraising due diligence surrounding potential of a $70 million, staged relocation of performing and visual arts college. Hired as campaign counsel to guide Board and institution through initial Phase I Board of Trustees campaign and leadership gift approaches. Helped leaders launch relocation by matching $21.5 million in property sales and real estate donations with $7.5 million in Board, foundation, corporate and public funding in approximately nine months. Students arrived on new campus in fall 2003.
